A Day at the Carnival (with [personal profile] radiant_bloom)

Though it's not quite dark out yet, the sun still on the horizon casting everything in an orange-pink glow, there are bright lights turned on all around the carnival in preparation for the night. It's a beautiful sight, and everything looks fun and exciting. He's glad to have Kairi here with him to enjoy it, though it would have been a lot of fun doing the different competition games with Riku there too. Since he'd left for a few days (without a word, and only a note, presumably so his two friends wouldn't follow along -- which is fair enough, they totally would have if they'd known where he was going) to run an errand or do some sort of favor for King Mickey. He'd promised it wasn't dangerous. Sora's not sure he totally believes that, but Riku's pretty good at taking care of himself, so he's not really worried.

For now, Sora and Kairi will just have to serve as metaphorical taste-testers for all the rides and attractions, and then when Riku comes back they'll know exactly what to drag him to. And maybe Sora can win a big prize or two for Kairi tonight that they can show off in front of Riku when he gets back.

He turns to look at his friend, grinning. "What do you wanna do first?"

Kairi missed Riku too, but this was also nice. She loved spending time with both of them together, but also treasured the moments she had separately with each. She was really excited about the carnival. It was the kind of thing they would have done... before. And while they could not, and honestly should not, go back to who they had been before they had grown and learned so much... it was nice to remember that they were in some ways still the same old them. She had spent time going to school without them, she had been lost in the darkness, she had found her own light, escaped being kidnapped, found her nobody, learned to fight... but she was still Kairi. Moments like this made that easier to remember.

When Sora grinned at her, she took his arm and grinned right back. "So long as it is fun, anything!" she told him cheerfully, with pure unfettered delight. She was getting to spend the day at the carnival with one of her two best friends. No danger, no battles, no forces of darkness pulling them apart. There wasn't a thing here he could choose to do that wouldn't be fun.

She grinned brightly and nodded. "It does. But aren't we a little old to play house?" she teased as she danced forward, letting go of his arm so she could turn and face him, hands behind her back as she grinned. She loved teasing him, because she knew he knew her heart. They both knew it was done always in love and friendship and camaraderie.

She grinned a bit. "Nothing wrong with some speed, it might even wake you up for once." She smiled brightly at him, laughter in her eyes as she danced back a bit more.

"Okay!" she said, as if they had come to a conclusion together. "It's decided, that's what we'll do. Funhouse first, then a giant roller coaster. That is, if you think you can keep from crashing it..."

Had Goofy told her stories about Sora and Donald crashing the gummyship? The world may never know.

She grinned at him. "I don't knoooooow" she teased, leaning forward. But she laughed and took his arm again when he mentioned the bumper cars. "We should!" she said, giggling. "He'll never know what.." wait for it..." hit him." She grinned. Of course, once Riku got hit a few times, she would back off, and let the two of them go at it. They always seemed to have so much fun competing with each other.

She peers into the house as Sora hands over the tickets a bit. This would almost seem like a date. If it wasn't her and Sora. She wondered how many people watching them would think it was a date. The idea amused her. She wondered if she should share it to Sora, or just see if she could spot anyone watching them, then play it up and leave him to catch on and play along.

She let go when he started trying the stairs, so she didn't wreck his balance. She took a grip of rail to either side as she moved, and grinned when he glanced back. "Not all of us wear shoes larger than the steps," she teased. She would never be as strong as her friends, or as good with her keyblade or magic. But agility and adaptability? She was good at that. She knew how to jump and land neatly without hurting herself, she could move well, and being smaller, she could usually fit in places they couldn't. And here? Her feet rested neatly at the center of each step. There were some benefits to being the runt of the island.

She laughed. "I don't know," she teased. "It's been so long I don't think I remember what your feet look like. Maybe they're really that big and the shoes are actually form fitting." she gave him a bright impish grin, having a great time.

"Of course, if you took them off, you'd have to carry them, and then you'd be unable to hold the rails, and you'd fall, and then I'd have a story to tell Riku when we see him...." She couldn't resist yanking his tail a bit. He was so much fun to tease.

She grinned. "C'mon Sora. We both know that if you leave me behind it won't be fun stuff any more. And I wouldn't tell Riku you tripped over your own feet, that would be boring." She grinned. "It's only a fun story if you trip doing something over the top, like trying to cross this beam on your hands." Challenge set with an angelic smile.
