Or begrudging acceptance, depending on whose idea this was. 2: You're here to buy items for a pet you already own. Maybe you even brought the pet with you to do that? 3: You brought someone here because you have something unfortunate to tell them and wanted them to be distracted by cute things. 4: It was raining or something, you were forced to come here, it wasn't your choice, really. Maybe someone else dragged you. 5: Whatever you want.

[ Kate just wants to pick up some stuff for Lucky, the pizza dog. While he looks pretty cute eating pizza, he can't live on the stuff, so she's off to the pet shop. Asking Anna to come along with her was a no-brainer. She would love peering through the windows at the little pups and kittens. ]

I'm thinking he needs a new collar too. The one he's got is beat up, [ Kate muses, pushing the small shopping card down the aisle. ]

[She really was the perfect person to accompany Kate on this trip, provided she doesn't mind Anna occasionally getting distracted by things. And not just the animals either, even the toys sort of fascinate her. She'd never had a pet before.]

Were you thinking about a specific color? [She asks as she stops in her trailing along after Kate in order to pick up a chew toy in the shape of a mailman, peering at it curiously. Why a mailman, though?]

[ Lucky already likes Anna, Kate can tell. And not just because they share a similar love for food. ]

I would say purple, but that one doesn't really suit him. And, like. I don't want to impose my favorite on someone who's clearly got his own preferences. What do you think about a dark leather collar? [ She waits for her to catch up, holding a hand out with her customary little grin. ]

[enthusiastics]

[She quickly puts down the chew toy, looking just slightly embarrassed for having gotten distracted, and takes Kate's hand in her own as she catches up to her.]

I think that sounds nice! It would definitely look good on him. And it should last him a while, too. [Kind of boring compared to purple, but Kate's right. Best not to impose.]

[ Kate smiles and squeezes her fingers gently, definitely not judging. With Kate's own kooky internal monologue, she really wouldn't he able to judge getting distracted. ]

Maybe we can go to a leather engraver and make it fancy. Get arrows and dog bones or something. [ The corners of her mouth quirk upwards, picturing how dapper the ol' dog would look. ]

[enthusiastics]

Oh, that would be cute! ...I was gonna say maybe pizza too, but that might be kind of a hard thing to engrave. [Possibly. She doesn't really know the whole technical process of leather engraving.] Maybe just stick with the arrows and dog bones and, oh! I bet they have chew toys in the shape of pizza! Do you think he'd like that?

[ Kate points at her, squinting one eye. ] I like the way your mind works, missy. All the pizza chew toys for the dog. Lucky dog, indeed.

[ Just for that, Anna gets a smooch on her cheek before Kate pushes the cart in search of the next item on her list, murmuring under her breath. ] Dog collars, dog collars...

[enthusiastics]

[She smiles brightly at the words and the kiss, bouncing along after Kate happily while still occasional looking at miscellaneous items on the shelves.]

I guess Lucky is pretty lucky! I'm glad you introduced me to him. I've never had a pet before. I bet it would be amazing to have one as loyal as he is, too. The kind of dog you read about in the news, you know? Rescuing people and such.

[pmuch]

He deserves to be spoiled. I mean, all pets, all dogs, should be spoiled.

[ She smiles, thoughtfully tapping her own nose. ] Since I've come home, I've gotta share him with Clint, but he loves your company too. As do I, of course. [ Kate winks. ]

[enthusiastics]

Definitely.

[She laughs, charmed, as she often is with Kate.] I'm glad about that! I like spending time with both of you...

And also the pizza. [Definitely can't forget about that.]

[pmuch]

[ Definitely cannot forget about that. Pizza is of the utmost important among Hawkeyes and one-eyed dogs. ] What do you think of this one? [ It's a handsome, rich leather, a pretty color. She can bring it to a specialty place to get the engravings. ]

[enthusiastics]

[She leans her head over Kate's shoulder, resting her chin on it as she looks at the collar in her hands.]

I like it! It's snazzy. Once it's engraved, he'll be the envy of dogs everywhere! Or, you know, at least within a five block radius.

[pmuch]

[ Kate rests her head against Anna's for a moment, nodding to herself. ]

That goes in the cart, too. [ She grins, setting it over the dog food. ] Did I forget anything?

[enthusiastics]

Hmmm... Oh, the chew toy? The pizza one?

[She takes a glance down the aisle back at the chew toys, but her gaze gets pulled toward the enclosures beyond the aisle.]

...We should go look at the small animals, too. I mean, not for Lucky. For me. Because I want to.

[pmuch]

Yep, the pizza one exactly. I mean, how am I supposed to not get that for a dog we call Pizza Dog? [ She chuckles. ] Duh, we can totally look at baby animals. It's part of the reason anyone goes to pet stores. [ Kate lifts a foot onto the bottom rung of the shopping cart and glides for a few feet down the aisle. ]

[enthusiastics]

[She retrieves said chew toy and adds it to the cart, then turns and starts walking down the aisle backwards so she can face Kate while she speaks.]

It should be like his motif. Like the arrow for you, you know? I mean whenever I see arrow things I think of you... Plus it's just going to be really cute and probably even amusing to watch him chew it.

[pmuch]

You're absolutely correct. It's officially his motif. [ A sage nod follows. ] Not that I'd be taking him out on any excursions any time soon, but maybe he can get his own hero suit with a pizza emblem.

[enthusiastics]

[She laughs, and nods along with Kate.] That would be pretty cute. And a cape? Or maybe that would be too much.

He can be a super hero in a motivational way, no fighting necessary.
